Winning at Video Poker
A guide to playing and winning at online casino video poker.
Video poker is one of the easiest and most fun casino games. The only
knowledge it takes to play is what hands beat what, and the fact is that’s
all that most people know. To make money playing video poker over a long
period of time you can’t just wait for a royal flush. You have to be able to
try to get as much money back on every pull as possible. Standard video
poker is basically dead; most people are playing multi-line video poker.
This speeds up the action and allows for bigger wins, and can lead to bigger
losses.
One of Mucho Casino’s best features is 100 line video poker. By allowing
bets as low as 1 cent per line it allows you to play this exciting new
format at a reasonable price. This new multi hand format means that you have
to be more aware of saving the right cards in order to put yourself in the
best position to draw to the best hands. Mucho Casino’s hundred hand format
also allows for big money to be won on marginal hands. By being dealt a pair
of kings for example, you will get paid 2-1 on 100 hundred hands and some of
those will likely turn into three and even four of a kind. However, just
because there are 100 hands this is not a license to simply go after
straight flushes every pull. For one thing you still won’t hit them
consistently, 10 J K of clubs is not going to produce too many royal
flushes, even on 100 hands. Also because you have 100 hands to hit it, the
payouts are adjusted accordingly. This is not to say the if you are dealt
(10 C, J C, Q C, K C, K H) you shouldn’t go after the royal flush there.
There is a good chance you could hit multiple straight and royal flushes.
100 hand poker is truly only for people looking to play for a while, and are
happy to continually make a profit. If you are looking to just hit one big
jackpot you are much better off playing single or 3 line. The payouts for
big hands are much larger. Also with this format you can take a chance going
for a long shot because you will only have to pay one or three bets, rather
then 100. One thing to remember is a pair of 10’s in no better then a pair
of 2’s in jacks or better poker. A pair holds no value unless it becomes two
pair or three of a kind. You have to look at the format of the game that you
are plying. If you are only paid 1-1 on two pair and 2-1 for three of a
kind, you might want to look at trying for a straight or a flush rather then
saving a small pair.
Although video poker can be fun it can also be costly if you play
improperly. Unless you only intend on playing for a very short time you have
to really be conscious about what is happening. Most people have a set
pattern to their play. If you always go for straights, or often save
“kickers” then that’s fine, but you have to realize when one of your habits
is not working. Don’t be afraid to change your style, in other words don’t
be stuck in your ways. The only way you can improve at the game is to play a
lot and realize what works and what doesn’t. By constantly modifying your
game, while noting what results you are getting, you can get a system that
can produce consistently positive results. And remember for the most
variations of video poker, at any limits you would like, try out Mucho
Casino.
